Things I absolutely cannot stand is entitled Marauders-Stans that think the things they like is what built the fandom.

"Back to marauders-tok" just showing they were not here for the fandom a decade ago and more, and proving so by admitting they came to the fandom in 2020.

You were not here for anything in the fandom aside from the after ATYD era and covid where everyone became chronically online.

"Why" is even a funnier question since Snupin is literally one of the stones to build the fandom. Both marauders and Golden Trio Era - it was more popular then Wolfstar, you would see them everywhere, anf many times in Drarry fanfictions and Severitus.

"For me it's Wolftar" yet feeling the urge to bash other's ships.

I got the notif of the video since tiktok alerted me that they "used a sound inspired by my video" - meaning straight up going against one of my ship videos.

It wasn't when a marauders era video, but it was a Golden Trio Era.

Facing them they didn't even dare to reply to me, kinda funny to see tbh.

I'm wondering when will this fandom catch the understanding that you can dislike a ship WITHOUT bashing it and trying to ruin it for others.

To be honest with you, I don't think Wolfstar fandom is precisely Jily stans enemy, so the things I am reading in my dashboard right now are confusing. Like, obviously they are both "original" ships, but why so mad about Remus/Sirius having been there and with a very important fanbase since the beginning? Honey If I'm Not/If You're Gonna - Canon-adjacent Wolfstar reunion AU set in Burlington. Set this in one of my favorite places and wrote it while getting engaged and married, and a it's been an unexpected path to a lot of wonderful friendships <3

Snow in June - Modern magical American texting strangers to lovers Wolfstar AU with hurt/comfort, a Jily wedding, James as a wegmans stan, supportive Dorlene and magical time capsule bubbles? This one's hard to categorize, but I really enjoyed writing it. Also set in one of my favorite places.

Better in the Morning - Bring back Black, fix-it one shot set in HBP. Truly this one had been bouncing around in my head since about 2004 and it's been really meaningful to me that a lot of readers have connected with it.

Forecasting with @rottendiary - Perciver snowed in one shot. Listen - Percy is a weather man. Oliver is a sports caster. In Buffalo, NY, in a snowstorm. It actually makes so much sense when you think about it.

Breeze (Move Me) - Drarry one shot inspired by Hozier's Movement and summer days in Provincetown. My first Drarry and most E E-rated fic. They are idiots and I adore them.

I love your tag “Jegulus creates Jily haters” because yeah, yeah that’s exactly right at least in my personal experience. I’m a newer fan and was never the BIGGEST fan of Jily (sometimes ships just don’t click with me, it is what it is, same thing goes with WolfStar tbh 😅) but I thought it was cute and I liked a lot of the fanart and edits but I really like Jegulus so seeing the constant hate for it kinda made me sour on Jily as a whole. They spend more time hating Reggie and Jegulus than they do actually supporting Lily and Jily and part of me just wonders if they ever just get TIRED (also I don’t want to hear it from the people who are in the top ten Harry Potter ships, you are hardly oppressed) (Like seriously I as a MaryLily shipper would love to have as many focused well-written completed longfics as they do) (Also on that note as a MaryLily shipper before I am a Jegulus or Jily watching the fighting gives me a weird feeling of not wanting to be noticed vs wishing to be acknowledged because for a lot of time they spend complaining about lack of attention on Lily they really don’t give MaryLily or PandaLily the time of day lol, nor do they seem to especially care about the non-Lily girls, or the fact that those girls are more relevant then they ever have been)

You're so right, Jily is still getting attention (1,100 fics in the last month is not all that little) and I love it for them! It's a neat classic ship that has every reason to be this popular <3

That being said, some of the fans who always seem to hate on others make shipping Jily look so miserable. If I get to pick between kids who play with blocks and kids who are screaming that lego is superior from the other side of the room, I'm not touching legos any time soon!

Also, I think we've got to see so many cool versions of Lily once we started experimenting with her a little! Let this girl try out new things! Let's put her under different circumstances! Please, explore her! Though, I'm afraid that any type of queer Lily is not the attention these fans want - so other ships don't matter to them (that is if they're not completely opposed to them in the first place :/).

But how dare we turn characters gay to make them more relatable the same way every other fandom does? How dare we stir from canon?

I understand that most Jily shippers are just nice and chill and enjoy their fics without the need to harass others, but there are so many toxic Jily stans who think they are so opressed it's not even funny anymore.

AS FAR AS THEY KNOW WE HAVE ZERO INFO ON ANY OF THE CHARACTERS, so apparently ANYTHING IS CANON

THAT'S BULLSHIT!!

I'm sure a lot of Regulus stans know that he didn't think twice about his devotion to Voldemort most of his life, but EVEN MORE OF THEM DON'T KNOW, AND THEY LEGITIMATELY BELIEVE THAT FANON INFO IS CANON INFO.

I'm not saying you have to love the TERF who must not be named, I'm just saying that you should really have basic knowledge of what is fact and what is misconception and popular headcanon if it's a series you love so much. You don't have to write canon compliant, but you should at least stop pretending it's canon when it's the furthest thing from it.

(i have a few more in the inbox i'm going to take a stab at but am trying to avoid spoilery ones or ones where i risk boring you all again by repeating old talking points, so if i don't get to one pls forgive me...)

right — to business. we begin with everybody looking at remus lupin waiting for him to put his crippling self loathing aside to write (1) singular letter to his dead friend's son:

i jest (to an extent). but i do think the entirety of harry and remus' dynamic is best encapsulated in one singular scene in PoA:

“When they get near me — ” Harry stared at Lupin’s desk, his throat tight. “I can hear Voldemort murdering my mum.” Lupin made a sudden motion with his arm as though to grip Harry’s shoulder, but thought better of it.

i know there's a very understandable move in AUs to imagine what would have happened if remus had raised harry - or, more often, if remus had been 'allowed' to raise harry by dumbledore. but looking past the whole plot-requiring-harry-to-be-at-the-dursleys thing, the truth is, canon remus lupin would never have put himself forward to raise harry, because of his own (not unfounded!) concerns about the precarity of his existence and the dangerousness of his condition. remus' sense of self - more specifically his fear of himself, and his very low self worth - consistently lead him to hold harry at arm's length from the moment he's introduced in the series until its bitter end. i don't think remus at all approves of the way harry is treated at the dursleys. but i can very much imagine that remus thinks it would still be better than the life he could have given harry if he ever had been called upon to serve as his primary caregiver. one of the most interesting implicit dynamics in the series is that harry notices this and does, to some extent, resent it (obviously the fact that he only ever calls him 'lupin' in his narration, though uses remus to his face, and also: 'Harry had received no mail since the start of term; his only regular correspondent was now dead and although he had hoped that Lupin might write occasionally, he had so far been disappointed.') while the harry & remus fight in DH is about harry's view of what remus ought to do re tonks and the baby, it’s also harry coming as close as saying to remus: you're letting your own child down like you let me down. ('I’m pretty sure my father would have wanted to know why you aren’t sticking with your own kid, actually... He had it coming to him,” said Harry. Broken images were racing each other through his mind: Sirius falling through the veil; Dumbledore suspended, broken, in midair; a flash of green light and his mother’s voice, begging for mercy… ‘Parents,’ said Harry, 'shouldn’t leave their kids unless—unless they’ve got to.')

molly and remus: i think this is a very, very underrated relationship! i know there’s a lot of molly-bashing around these days, especially if you’re a marauders and/or sirius and/or wolfstar stan. but i think it is very very overlooked that the person who looks after adult remus the most from 1995 onwards, and who shows him some of the deepest trust and roots for his happiness, is molly. for a man who has plainly known a huge amount of financial/food/housing insecurity, and who is so villainised in wider wizarding society, it is no small gesture for molly to not only provide for remus materially but also to trust him in a house with all of her children and encourage him in a romantic relationship he struggles to feel entitled to and worthy of. (i love sirius, but he is in no fit state to ‘look after’ remus in the last year of his life, and fandom’s continued unwillingness to recognise the importance of domestic/caregiving labour as a vital contribution to the resistance will never not be problematic af). remus clearly values and admires molly in return - the only time he actually ever entertains a parent/guardianship role is when molly is weeping over her boggart, crying onto remus’ shoulder (‘what must you think of me?’) and he assures her that if anything were to happen to her and arthur, he would be a part of the team making sure her children are taken date of (‘what do you think we’d do, let them starve?’) remus’ relationship with molly is often the more mild-mannered translator of her viewpoint to others (especially others with hot tempers), and mediator trying to find middle ground between molly’s protective instincts and the battle/ready instincts of others. (more grist to my sirius & ginny parallels mill — in DH, when a fuming ginny is desperately trying to sneak off to fight in the battle, it’s remus who appeals to molly and ginny to find the compromise of ginny staying in the room of requirement to know what’s going on but not actively fight, a mirror image of his role mediating the dispute between sirius and molly over harry’s right to know what’s going on at grimmauld in ootp…) molly accepts this compromise, a sign that she trusts remus implicitly (she never frets that a werewolf is living among her children in ootp onwards, and invites him to christmas readily even after months undercover with the pack) and also feels able to call him out (‘i’ve always said you’re taking a ridiculous line on this, remus’.) this is too long but basically — justice for molly and remus, unlikely buds!

teddy and andromeda: i weirdly think a lot about teddy lupin these days. i tend to imagine teddy as a very mild-mannered, affable, calm child, like who remus might have been had he not been bitten, with tonks' heart and sociability but also with something of remus' more philosophical disposition. i think he'd slip very naturally into a big brother role because, in part, he does see himself as having a responsibility to take care of people, and i think this would shine through in his relationship with andromeda. we know teddy was raised by his gran, and i imagine she feels enormously protective of him, perhaps bordering on strict in her desire to keep him safe from the harm that came to all the rest of her family. but i like to imagine teddy didn't act out against this too much, in part because he understands where it comes from and in turn feels very protective of andromeda. growing up in the aftermath of the war would make teddy as a child particularly aware of the grief and pain and the silences among the adults around him, and i think teddy would take any compensatory protective strictness on andromeda's part with good grace, and humour her for it. i like to think teenage/young adult teddy serves as the translator for any of his gran's more prickly edges, and that they have a very close relationship that both of them really treasure.

Worst Fandom Takes I've Seen:

Damn this is difficult. there are so many shit takes floating around hmmmm let's start with the easy ones.

Twinkification of sirius black. ranted about this on my blog already so i'll keep it short. it sucks. also fun fact, i used to be a total marauders fanon fan until the butchering of sirius' character (+ the rise of jegulus). So really, it was just sirius’ character assassination that made question fanon marauders. Remus fanonization hasn’t bothered me till quite recently lol.

That sirius and Remus are soulmates. Like they’re literally my otp,, but they’re not perfect for each other I’m sorry. They’re probably better with other people (Dni remadora stans tho). Buuuut, that’s part of the reason I like them so much!! Because they’re so shit for each other. People who say their soulmates often sugarcoat their relationship and get mad when ‘actual’ wolfstar depict them as ‘toxic’

Regulus was forced into being a death eater by friends and family. Bffr that boy had a Voldemort mood board. His parents were probably more concerned for him lmaoo

since people are asking for them, here are my unpopular marauders opinions

(note, and i mean this in the most serious way: please, for the love of god, if you don't agree, just scroll. there is no reason to cause drama over some unpopular opinions of some random tumblr user just because you don't agree with me.)

remus is my least favorite character. don't get me wrong, i love him to bits, he's just the least intriguing to me. he's the character we've been given most of; not only that, i find sirius and james' character, as well as peter's (and his betrayal), as far more interesting

i don't really like jegulus for the same reason as remus; the dynamic is interesting, there is a lot to work with there, including the death eater and order member dynamic, but i just find some ships as more interesting

most of the characters are written as super one-dimensional and therefore i do not like most fandom characterizations which is a crucial point, to me, in whether i read the fic. i like fics in which the characters are written as real people, with human emotions and flaws, and not some qualities thrown together

some wolfstar shippers are pretty much the most annoying people in fandom (coming from a wolfstar shipper). shipping the only consistent ship in this fandom does not make you inherently better than everyone else, and just because someone else splits wolfstar for other ships dynamics does not mean anything

the black sisters and the evans sisters, if written well, can be more interesting than the black brothers and i don't think we talk enough about them (i also find the black brothers are really interesting, and i need more fics in which the intensity of these dynamics are explored)

i dislike the main characterization of regulus in fandom, being a huge fan of morally grey regulus. however, each with their own characterization, and i'm no one to judge next. i find him to be a very interesting character, however, and i like fics that dive deeper into his character

people who ship jegulus and hate lily for no reason need to chill; furthermore, people who hate mary and lily for "getting in the way" of their mlm ships are... i'm not going to comment on this, but you probably know what i mean

"stan bambi" comments on snape videos are really annoying because the very same way we don't like (and sometimes get aggressive) over snape lovers attacking the characters we like, why are we doing that to other people?

i need more peter-centered fics, and i do not like him only being a sidekick or ignored. also, mary is also a very interesting character, and i don't think we credit her enough for it

dorlene > wolfstar

the girls are far more interesting than people make them out to be and i NEED an atyd-like fic (long canon compliant etc) from their povs. it's not a want, it's a need, and i might just write it myself, because i think that a fic like that has a lot of potential

dorcas is morally grey and i need more fics in which that is a thing

this might be my most unpopular opinion but i prefer lily to regulus; i find them both to be very interesting characters, but i find myself more drawn to lily

pretty privilege is REAL in this fandom. bet that if peter and snape were conventionally attractive, they would be as loved as evan, barty, and regulus

i do not see sirius as transfem but why do people have to be so pressed about this hc. lif you don't see it, shut up, move on with your day, and let people who see it do their thing; this fandom is TOO pressed about other people's hcs

i kind of dislike fanon james because they strip him of all humanity and emotions, and make him a ray of walking sunshine with no issues (hence my essay on it, which you can read here)
